MSD BRINNY MSD Brinny is a leading facility for the development, testing and manufacturing of new biologics and vaccines, exporting to over 90 countries across the world. With a team of approx 500 people, MSD Brinny specialises in the late-stage development and commercial supply of biotech products, including some of the company's most successful and life-changing treatments for oncology, hepatitis C and rheumatoid arthritis. The Brinny site has been a vibrant part of the local Innishannon community for nearly 35 yrs and is now 1 of the region’s largest employers. Our facilities, along with our external contractors, suppliers, and partners, comprise an interdependent global manufacturing network that’s committed to delivering a compliant, reliable supply to customers and patients on time, every time, across the globe. & SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES We currently have two year fixed term contract opportunities for Process Craft Technicians (Mech). The successful applicant will be responsible for the hands-on operation and maintenance of process, utility and facility equipment to support manufacturing operations and maximise asset performance. Duties include: Carrying out all routine and non-routine tasks delegated according to appropriate procedures and standards. Repairing equipment malfunctions (mechanical). Executing site preventive maintenance routines. Assisting in construction, commissioning and qualification of equipment. Developing maintenance procedures and equipment files. Assisting with generation, review and revision of maintenance documentation as necessary. Selecting of appropriate spare parts to ensure max availability of equipment. Operating utilities and equipment safely and efficiently, whilst maximizing uptime. Collecting and analysing equipment data to report on equipment performance. Assisting with rolling shutdown preparation and execution. Training other staff in department procedures and techniques, as required. Operate, troubleshoot, maintain and support Utility and Manufacturing equipment to support the Integrated Process Team (IPT) to enable the manufacture of quality pharmaceutical products. Responsible and accountable for the safe accomplishment of all activities within the team whilst following all statutory, environmental, regulatory (cGMP), corporate, site and team practices. Reporting any EHS incidents and/or near misses. Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained to a high standard within the IPT. Support efficient and safe daily operations of equipment as required whilst maximizing uptime. Assist engineering in executing projects.. Perform all necessary maintenance PMs and repairs. Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment while maintaining production schedule. Supporting a culture of Continuous Improvement by participating in 6 Sigma tool activity within the Utility area such as: Kaizen Projects, MTBR, MTTF, issue solving, energy reduction and Lean principles. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS & BACKGROUND - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS General Must have a mechanical craft qualification. 3+ years industrial background ideally in the operations and maintenance of Process and Utility equipment. Excellent people skills. Customer focus. Innovative. Strong communication abilities both written and verbally. Good issue solving abilities. Results and performance driven. Adaptive and flexible. Pharmaceutical/GMP background an advantage. Background carrying out mechanical repairs and fault finding on utility/process / manufacturing equipment e.g. pumps, mechanical seals, rotating equipment, HVAC, refrigeration etc. Background of utility systems maintenance and troubleshooting. Background of CMMS type systems (PEMAC/SAP). Background of Root Cause Analysis techniques an advantage: five Whys, Fishbone etc. Be familiar with daily activities in all areas of Maintenance. Deputise for Maintenance Team Lead as necessary. Facilitate an environment of continuous improvement. Participate in investigations in work area as necessary. Participate in Cross-Functional teams as necessary to support site goals. Support training of other technicians. Collaboration and teamwork. Initiative and motivation. Share ideas and suggestions for improvement and encourage others to do the same. Work as a strategic partner with all other departments within the facility.
